Last week Primary 7 enjoyed their discovery of a local green space. They problem-solved and worked as a team to build a den for shelter and then we focused on identifying and measuring our local trees. The most common species we found were pine and birch trees. We then used hapa zome to add some of our beautiful leaves to cloth as a keepsake for our floor book. We only used leaves that were already on the ground and were careful to leave our natural place as we found it.

This walk was one of the longest but the weather was fantastic. We came across this marvellous patch of oak trees that were very tall and impressive! We walked by Rydal Water where lots of people were going to swim in and that's where I took my panorama. On the way back we saw a baby snake which we thought was an adder (the Uk's only venemous snake) and it was on a road so we made sure it didn't get run over by these cyclists that came past. We also saw a deer in a field close to the end of our walk. W/c 10th Aug 2020

We went on an long walk up Loughrigg Fell and it was very windy at the top. We descended the mountain and the steps were very uneven and steep which scared us a bit. The weather was grim at first but turned more sunny and I took a picture of the Lake Grasmere with the town Grasmere in the background. W/c 10th Aug 2020

As we set out in the morning, I could smell the fresh, clean air and wet foilage of the forest. Nice flat walk and spectacular scenery! Spotted a meandering river so I had to take a photo. W/c 10th Aug 2020

Saw some pretty heather :)

As I was walking down Wansfell Pike, my mum pointed out to me that there was another path right next to the main one. This links back to the Countryside Code for the Uk which says that you need to follow paths. However, is it inevitable that over time paths will get wider because human activity in these natural environments will continue or will stricter rules need to be put in place to protect these areas? Extremely tiring walk - especially the ascent - amazing views at the top though. We were able to see Lake Windermere and it was quite a sight! W/c 10th Aug 2020
