6th Aug. When we went to the woods near our house I took gloves and a bin bag thinking that there might well be more rubbish by the stream. And there was! Didn't take long to make a good difference.

6th Aug. Rosie hadn't seen her special friend and pen pal Chloe since the begining of lockdown. We had a meet up in the woods near our house. Always fun to share a space we love with people who are seeing it for the first time. As the children were exploring the woods together they discovered some new rope swings that hadn't been there the last time we went! I didn't seem to get any pics of Chloe playing in the woods but the last picture shown was one her mum sent me. This was the kids at the end of the walk. They were covered in mud, had made ivy crowns and I think their faces show what a great time they had had!

29th July. It was our friend Zora's 5th birthday so what could be better than a trip to the woods? We went with her and her mum to Whinlatter where we enjoyed exploring the Gruffalo trial, discovering stick houses and playing on the fantastic adventure playground. We had a drink and cake sitting outside the cafe but the kids were more interested in the food on offer over the fence from the cafe seating area! On our way out they scrambled up the bank and got some of the cherries they had seen :)

July 2020. We were so happy camping in our woods, exploring, discovering more and more each day that we extended our stay there twice. During our stay there we met someone who had a house not too far away that we could rent. So instead of thinking we would be back quite soon we knew that we would be going home to declutter and pack up our belongings and lives to move down to be near our woods. Sad to think it would be a couple of months before we would be back but exciting to know that when we did get back it would be for good. Beautiful sunsets in our woods. Time to say goodbye for now.

July 2020. Being in nature especially around trees always changes and deepens my meditation experience. I don't know if it's being more grounded and sitting directly on the earth, less interference from wifi and electricity or simply the stillness and beauty but it does. Here, with some help from Rowan and Rosie we recorded a class in our woods. Relaxation in a hammock zzz :)

Lots to explore and interact with on the Play Trail at Glen Finglas. From building a den with the ferns and forest bracken to making music with the wooden blocks and bench. We spotted different types of fungi, and will look into finding out about them.

July 2020. It was a steep scramble down the bank from the track to the Beech and Oak grove. Jon made some posts from a fallen tree and used some of the many slabs of slate around to make steps! Love how the woodland provides the materials for us to make what we need. The kids had hours of fun making and playing in a stick house.

While exploring the Waggonways, we found a patch we had walked passed, but not noticed. Going through a small gap in hedgerow. We found a hidden pond surrounded by reeds. There were water boatmen enjoying the sun too.
