We attempted to attract moths with a white fitted sheet and torch light sadly we did not get more than a couple of bugs and some had shadows. 1 hour

Once we had our raw materials gathered we set about making a range of signs and symbols around the critter path for our cavemen to follow. We had different symbols all giving different advice from turn left/right to warning vicious tribe ahead! 🪨

We gathered materials from what we could find around the critter path. We were able to reuse sticks, twigs, rocks, stones, planks, chipboard and even some discarded pieces of litter. Using the materials we scavenged from around the site we set about making our own Neolithic symbols for other cavemen to follow.

Today we went exploring around the critter path that has been cut into the grass field to the side of our school. We started off by finding our way through the maze path and then by having a few games of tig to keep ourselves warm on a windy day!

Today we looked at how we can help our school ecosystem. We learned about the importance of bees in keeping our environment stable. We took the responsibility of planting pollinators so that we can help the local bee population. The pupils also looked at cleaning up the school grounds and recycling. We talked about the amount of plastics in the oceans and the importance of reusing. We made bird feeders from the empty bottles that were collected.

Today we focussed on teamwork. We learned about leadership, organisation and compromise. We had to change our plans due to covid but we still managed to contribute fully. We explored the school grounds in an orienteering task where each team had a leader and they had to form a plan on how to reach each of the points on the map. Afterwards we then reviewed each teams plan and if it had been effective or not. We wanted to know more about our ecosystem in the school so we also worked in pairs looking at which trees and plants we could identify. The pupils also were asked to photograph the plants and we picked the two winners of the best photos at the end. The pupils also discussed their findings and we created a mental map of where each of the trees/plants were found.
