Once we had found all of our boxes and materials we made our way out onto the field. We were able to explore our tunnels out in the open and discover who had visited our tunnels over the past few days.

Today, after a few days out in our wooded area, we revisited our mammal tunnels to see who had visited. After making our way into the woods we relocated our hidden tunnels and got our first peeks inside.

Now that our tunnels are set up and in place in our wooded area we will revisit them tomorrow or Friday to see who has been having dinner on us! 🍽

Olly, Ryan and Ciaran were able to successfully make a mammal footprint tunnel from an old box, some paper, a take away lid and a cereal box. Once their tunnel was made they added some ink for footprints and cat food to entice the creatures of the forest. We hope they manage to capture some footprints 👣

To make our mammal tunnels we reused and recycled just like Stig would do… We turned old cardboard boxes into our walls for our tunnels, plastic bottles and pots as containers for our ink and food and finally old sugar paper to capture our footprints. We learned to reuse objects around us for a new purpose. 👍

To begin our session today we made our way back into our wooded area to get some shade 🥵 Kate introduced us to our activity and showed us a little prepared model she had made. We are hoping to attract mice, voles, hedgehogs and even foxes!
