We visited our local nature area - Fallin Bing. We looked at Wester Moss from a distance but as it'd been very wet it wasn't safe for us to go to the bog field this time. We found rabbit burrows, and lots of wild flowers to research the names of. We looked for rain droplets on plants. We could smell the freshness of the rain, and noticed that the colours of plants and flowers seemed brighter and fresher after it had been raining. We also splashed in some massive puddles!

Day 2 of rebuilding the drainage features on the Meall a'Bhuachaille path. When you are out walking and indeed we all thought the same, you might think that there isn't much to the path, but when you start to try and get big heavy stones to fit together and then have to dig them into position, you soon realise that it is very hard work! The weather was much kinder today and we even had to put some sun cream on. It was also lovely to hear a cuckoo singing all day. We couldn't quite figure out where it was coming from, but it was definitely trying to heard.

Our final day on Meall a'Bhuachaille and the pressure was on to get the path work finished, not only because it was the last day, but also the weather forecast was for rain at the end of the day. In the end not only did we get 2 water bars and 3 steps completed, we also managed to clear all drainage features and re-dig 10m of ditching on the way back down the hill. Whilst being on the hill for 5 days, it has been great to spot and identify some lovely wildlife. Here are some pictures of some of the ones that we managed to get photos of. It's been a great 5 days in the Glenmore Forest, we are all very tired, but a good tired. And the paths are in a better state than when we started. Still plenty to do and we look forward to more volunteer days in the area in the future.

Yoga on the beach early in the morning listening to the waterfall,waves, wind and birds. Feeling the sand beneath the toes and stretching into the day. Running in the coastal national park and pausing to listen to a stream and admire the Iris flowers swaying in water and wind. Son walking home along the coastal path.

On week 10 we harvested rhubarb from our school garden and we used it to make rhubarb and apple crumble with the help of our home economics teacher. It was great to see it being grown, harvested and then used to make into something.

On week 11 we went to Loch Lomond & Balloch Country park to walk part of the John Muir Way. The weather wasn't great but it was cool to follow in John Muir's footsteps. We walked a lot, learned the history of the castle & John Muir's time there and we also got to see Loch Lomond!
