The week we placed the sign to tell every body we were planting wild flowers and we did some more weeding and clearing the area from grass.

This week and last week we were preparing to plant wildflowers. So far we have found good soil and found good spots, so it can have lots of sunlight next week we will be ready to plant the flowers. Let’s hope they don’t die like last year.🤞

We were clearing out an area next to the river line to plant wild flowers for our John muir outdoor topic. We also made poles to tell people not to touch the area.

P6/7 on Wednesday went to the rive to work on our wildflower patches. We have to dig a large enough patch for three people. It was very hard work. We pulled all the weed and roots out. We made a sign to tell people what we are doing.

Today we were continuing weeding and expanding our planting space.

Today we were calculating the age of the trees in our local woodland (without cutting them down!) We measured around the trees and then did a bit of maths.... our oldest tree in the woodland near us is around 160 years old. It was around before the Titanic sank and definitely before any of us were around!

We made a sign to stop people walking on our flowers and got rid of more weeds 🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷

Using a mirror we changed the way we look at our woodland. Looking into the canopy of the woodland we had to be guided by a friend so that we didn't trip over the uneven ground. We discovered the world above us was full of life and if we were quiet enough we could see birds nesting.
