P5 started weeding the first two beds at the entrance. It was hard work because of the weather conditions.

this is the school garden before the work starts. we are going to begin by clearing and weeding the first two beds at the entrance and take away the rubbish at the gate.

Been a bit mad here with bad weather and staff absences, but we were back at the loch yesterday. A slightly depleted group trooped off for a morning of rowing with Kinghorn Coastal Rowing Club. We didn't get any photos, (all too busy rowing!) so this week, group member Duncan gave us his thoughts to share. Over to you Duncan! "John Muir is a fun and exciting set of activities. Our current John Muir group has been amazing so far, I really enjoy doing John Muir and I am excited for more John Muir activities in the future." I think that says it all!

Our work allowed us to help care for the small birds of the park who would perhaps have found it challenging to find food at the time of year. Robins huffed and puffed their feathers in the cold as Blue Tits busied themselves flying from branch to branch. A black bird peered at us with expectant eyes as his yellow beak shone golden against black night sky feathers! We strung our feeders high into the branches one after the other before taking a step back to see what we had achieved. Within seconds our feathered friends were hopping and twirling into the air filled with enthusiasm and soon to be filled with the essential foods that would see them through the day and night. As we walked back to the bus we talked and reflected on what we had achieved which was a lot. Making contributions to our green spaces like this will make a genuine difference to the animals and environment, working as a team really does have an impact!!!

It was like Bird Feeder Factory Production Line as the GKC Explorers set to work once again with the help of our Countryside Ranger Friends. Allison Greig and her Team allowed us to experience 'another' amazing space by creating our Bird Feeder Production Plant in the very heart of our Green Space Pollok Park. As the frost lay like a wintery blanket all around us we made our way towards the gardens and poly tunnel with jackets zipped, jumpers tucked and gloves on! Little did we know Ranger Greig and her team had a yet another surprise in store!! A Huge White Green House filled with everything we would need for todays tasks was laid before us! Frost danced in patterns on the outside of the windows as the branches of the trees glistened and swayed into the winter sun. But inside we were warm and ready for action as the Greenhouse was heated and the hot chocolate flowed!!! Christmas songs filled the air as we worked with the help of Allison, Gavin, Linzi and Fiona filling our pine cones with margarine or lard before coating them with delicious seeds and hanging them with string! We made Christmas Cards and Decorations with larger pine cones pasting them with clue and glitter and hanging them with coloured string! This was an excellent adventure into nature and Christmas but he real purpose of the day was yet to come.....

Flynn did lots of research on life cycles. He also made a wormery.

Sophie went a trip to Loch Lomond, she got lots of new information from a ranger and shared some of her John Muir learning too.

Alfie and his family went a trip to Eglington park to discover and explore a wild space.
