We had a wonderful day at Treverbyn, mid-Cornwall, on Friday 10th March 2023. Chris led a walk for us all in the morning up Carloggas Downs and we enjoyed the beautiful views across St Austell Bay. Then Chris and Nick helped us create painted stones for geocaching and learn how to make dead hedges.
After some lunch and time to relax in the park, we did some dead hedging conservation work, created a log pile and carried out a BioBlitz on the five acre site.
Big thank you to Chris and Nick for all the preparation and facilitation 🙂.
It was wonderful to explore new places, learn from each other and connect by working together.

The Students continue with their efforts with the Memorial Garden at Gilesgate Primary School. All the Students are really engaged in developing the Garden from the 'overgrown jungle' covered in litter, which it was when they started to some form of tidy and well maintained space for school and community use. Today they have continued to remove weed growth which has been strangling the plants, trees and shrubs. The prior work is already making a great difference and it is great to see new buds and shoots starting to form. The school continues to support our endeavours and publicise the great work through the school website and their regular newsletters

A great day from all the Students once again in the Park. All Students were wanting to engage in the area near to the tennis courts and bowling green. Although the specific area does not receive much attention over the winter months, the area is well used through Spring, Summer and Autumn. With a little direction the Students were really proactive in tidying the area, clearing and trimming back. Ensuring development and healthy growth development of all the plants, trees and shrubs. The positive feedback received from the many members of the public in the area was really positive. The Local Town Council who have ultimate overall responsibility to maintain the Park are always complimentary of the Students and regularly post updates on their website/ social media and the paper circulations

Another great day in the Park with the Students - further exploration and tidy up of a specific area in the Park. All students were allowed to progress through the area and use different methods/ tools to tidy and conserve the area. Although cold all students were involved and whilst tidying foliage and trimming they were wanting to engage in litter picking and disposal to maintain the integrity of the Park.
