We learned about trees and how important they are for the environment and how to identify different ones.

We loved seeing where our families chose for their different wild spaces. Being on the West Coast of Scotland we are spoiled for choice and had beautiful country parks, beaches, nature reserves and back gardens....all wonderful places for us to learn about and appreciate wildlife .

Families found it interesting learning about all the different guidelines we should be following when outside. We do have rights when outdoors but we also have responsibilities!!!

And we are back together! An outdoor cookout as a wee treat for the group for Thursday's session. Veggie and real sausages on rolls all round. Head teacher Mr Adair joined us for a roll too! Nice to get into the school garden too. It was a great day!

Visited the reserve and discovered to my horror that there was a lot of flooding all around the reserve and the camera trap was completely submerged underwater so it could not be recovered. It was heartbreaking to see this as it dawned on me that it meant that camera would be beyond repair! I talked to some Thame residents and they said this was the worst flooding they had ever seen in cuttlebrook. I think that this flood was most likely the result of climate change. This was the wettest winter on record - 486.8mm of rain - beating the previous 1995 record, Met Office says. Today I went to check if the camera trap batteries were working because no photos could be recovered from the previous week. I viewed the SD card and discovered that pictures were being taken so the camera was working fine. I left the camera in situ and went home as it was getting dusky. W/c 18th Jan 2021
