We made skeleton nets for cubes at 50%, 25% and 75% of the actual size.

We used the forest as a natural environment for learning about measurement. We measured dens for animals to set areas and perimeters and found trees which had the same circumferences as our heads.

Our second trip was to find the River Wey in Farnham. We met at Bishops Meadow which is an important part of Farnham because it is a flood meadow. In 1968 there was a huge flood and lots of buildings were damaged. When we walked further down the river we tested the water and it was dirtier than in Alton. We paddled because it was really sunny and we picked up litter. Nate found a river cray fish shell and it was blue. My favourite part of the day was paddling and saving a bunny/teddy. We went out to use or senses in spring. It was nice to feel the gentle breeze and the sun on our faces. We could hear the birds singing and some observant people saw some mini beasts.

I had a really great day of nature and spring at the reserve today . We were all very excited to hear about the fox cubs but weren't sure if we would actually see them but we had the most amazing view of them playing in the sunlit bluebells . Then we went back to the barn and watched and educational film all about spring and the amazing changes it brings , we then discussed what we had watched and went to look at spring flora and fauna on the reserve. We had a look at an abandoned nest and then encountered a roe deer and her fawn ! then I replenished the badger feeders and Jonathan distributed some raw meet to feed the foxes , then checked for grass snakes and were lucky enough to have a sighting even though it was cold and rainy , what a wonderful day of nature !
