When we went for a walk I was sad to see some of the woods had been burnt due to a fire. I was happy to see that something was trying to regrow through the burnt area. But, when I researched the plant it's a western Bracken fern which is a weed that is really difficult to get rid of and cause cancer if eaten!

As we walked Hugo through the woods, I noticed that whenever Hugo ran through these plants that dust came out of them. I looked when I got home and it's called Orchard grass but I still don't understand why it was making the dust! It was like a magic trick!

Today as we drove to sailing we saw a muscovy duck and her ducklings. When we got home I found this website and found out lots of interesting facts about them! https://hedgecombers.com/muscovy-ducks/

This afternoon, I decided to draw a map of the woods to show you which way we walk :) Tonight, now the rain has stopped, I'm hoping to go on a litter pick! I will take some photos to show you!

Today, I saw lots of black things on the leaves of different plants/trees. I asked Alex what they were and he said Aphids. When I got home I learned that Aphids are sap-sucking true bugs that suck sap from foliage, stems, and flowers but feed from roots. They are really bad for the plants and can be removed by spraying them with a hosepipe! I don't think our hose pipe will reach the woods though :)

Tonight I took action! We all went up into the woods and carried out a litter pick, I wish I'd taken more than 1 bag! I was really upset with the mess that was up there, I just kept thinking about the animals it could hurt. Alex posted what we'd done on his twitter page, he put our local MP Ben Bradley into the tweet, I hope he sees it so that he can help me bring awareness to the damage being caused in the woods. Today, I plan to create a poster to go up to the woods in the hope some people will think twice before dropping their litter.

It had been raining for a few hours, light showers, so we went to see how the Waggonways would look. Lots of blossom has fallen and berries are beginning.

The meadow beside the Waggonways has burst into life. Through the winter it can be a very wet boggy area. With the recent sun and rain, the flowers and grass have grown rapidly.
