We eventually found the geocache at the coordinates on the app - but it has been fun visiting the monument itself. We also found natural beauty nearby.

School Summer holidays 2019: Today we attended the first ever South Downs National Park Youth Action Day. It was a plastic pollution action day at Seven Sister Country Park. We all met at the visitor centre and then headed down to the estuary and beach. Armed with rubbish bags and pickers it was our job to tackle as much rubbish and plastic as possible. On the surface the area seemed to be pretty litter free, but as you looked closer it was astonishing and frightening how much plastic was embedded amongst the salt marsh vegetation and in the soil. In particular the micro plastic nodules which were just every where. Whilst the day brought home the reality of the plastic problem we face as humankind it was nonetheless inspiring and enjoyable. We also met other youth volunteers and staff from the South Downs National Park Authority.

Bus to Pendine and walk home spotting butterflies on the way and collecting any human dropped plastic on the way. Saw lots of painted ladies and meadow brown butterflies. Eventually near Amroth a common blue and near Pendine a speckled wood butterfly. First blackberries of the season enjoyed on the way today 6th August.

July 2019 - Heritage Trail at Teigngrace. I've been meaning to check out the Templer Way Heritage Trail for a while now so I decided to do so whilst doing one of my weekly runs. We all know running or walking keeps us fit and healthy but is also a great way to de-stress. And doing so on the Heritage Trail there is so much to see, as well as all the dog walkers, cyclists, families and walkers that you meet and chat to. Go on, get out there and try it for yourself :o)

August 2019 - Tottiford Reservoir. More children today have less contact with the natural world and this is having a huge impact on their health and development. I took my daughter and her friend to Tottiford, we played with sticks, watched the ants busy at work with their nests, marvelled at the huge lake and pretty dragon flies whilst connecting with each other and nature. July 2019 - more Templer Way. Whilst training for a run I decide to keep running on the Templer Way, all this beautiful scenery right on my doorstep. Templer Way is an 18 mile route between Haytor and the south coast. The Templer Way traces the route by which granite was exported from Dartmoor via the unique Haytor Granite Tramway and the Stover Canal and I came across a graving dock!

May 2019 - We joined DNPA Ranger Bill at a Ranger Ralph event at Haytor. We studied the shapes, land, cattle and of course rocks! We then drew them. My daughter Megan and her friend had great fun drawing and taking rock rubbings, whilst my older daughter Jessica climbed the rocks in the quarry and explored. I don't consider myself a good drawer/artist but trying a new skill can improve mental wellbeing and help us connect with others, and where better to connect than my favourite spot Haytor. After the event we stayed and played, boosting all our mental wellbeing, whilst getting exercise and fresh air (a vital requirement for getting children tired out!)
