We found that throwing the bulbs in the air and planting where they landed would give us the most natural effect. We were confident about this for two reasons, the first being that we are confident in what we do and secondly Linzi and Fiona gave us this TOP TIP!!! Too much Gardeners World Girls!!!!! Planting around trees and benches, on top of mounds of grass and in the wide open with clumps of bulbs nestled together to provide splashes of color throughout this important space!! We cannot wait to return in Springtime and spend the day once more admiring the color we have helped create while watching our pollinator friends get to work!!

Today was a day for New Ideas and Reflection as we worked with Countryside Rangers Linzi and Fiona within the COVID Memorial site within Pollok Park. Our task today was Planting Bulbs ready in the hope that we will give our pollinator friends a bit of a head start next Spring! As always we worked and learned together as a team using different techniques tools to plant a variety of different bulbs. As the sun shone the day raced past and we had planted packet after packet of beautiful bulbs that will hopefully slowly start to grow in time for SPRING!!!! Are the GKC Explorers already talking about Spring - YES WE ARE!!!!!

As our day came to an end we agreed that we had created some pretty cool stuff! The process had been pretty cool as well as we learned where our materials had come from, where they were going as they headed for the compost heap and WHY this is important! We learned that some of the Mums and Support staff like the songs from the Movie (Ghost) and laughed and learned all along the way!! As far as our Clay Art Nature exhibition goes....well why don't you judge for yourselves!!!!

We added Clay to the materials that we had found and were challenged by Fiona and Linzi to create Nature Themed Art work with one condition - let our imaginations run 'WILD'!!

Once we got into 'Our Studio' it was time for work! We looked at the materials we had gathered and got to work placing the different materials in a variety of ways to create our art work! Oh and as you can see we weren't the only ones getting in on the Art Act, our brilliant Support Staff and even our Parents were Hooked!!!! Brilliant!!!

We started our day at the Arboretum in Pollok where with the help of Linzi and Fiona we planned to gather our art materials!! We looked for Shapes and Colours and Textures as we were impressed by the HUGE Red Woods and Spectacular Acers! Linzi and Fiona explained (told stories) to us about the different species of tree, how they live their lives and their importance! With our colours in hand and ideas in our minds we set off for the Poly Tunnel or as we like to call it sometimes....out studio!!!!! Oh and there was a trip to Hobbiton just for good measure!!!!

Looking around the garden and speaking to the Volunteers at Watch Us Grow was a great experience. We loved the MASSIVE Green House/ Learning Space where ideas and not only seeds were potted on and allowed to flourish! The pond was excellent and blended seamlessly into the garden. This made us think of our own pond at the college and the achievements we have made with this creating wild and sustainable habitats! We looked at the tools that they have been using and compared these to the tools that we have been using back at the college or at Pollok with Linzi and Fiona. Above all though we met likeminded people, people who loved to learning through 'DOING' and people who loved to Watch Things Grow!! We left with the name of this fantastic group in our minds and are more determined than ever with the help of our friends old and new to WATCH US GROW!!!!!
