During our Youth Committee meeting we spent some time planning out our very own John Muir Discovery Award! Watch this space to see where our Award takes us over the next few months!

In the 'Secret Garden' we had cleared the area, where the fig tree was, to make it a wild flower patch. Then we scattered a whole load of different wild flower seeds. The seeds turned into some lovely flowers like: Red/Purple Poppies, Cornflowers, Common Vetch, Californian Poppies (not technically a wild flower, but good for pollinators).

I went for a week to Findhorn in Moray to do a work away camp. We were working on a farm to build a shelter so that visitors can enjoy the amazing view from the farm and be sheltered from the wind and rain. We wild camped around four miles away from the farm in woods at the edge of the Findhorn Community and got driven there each day. We were working for around three hours each day with a break then we also got lunch from the people who owned the farm. The campsite was really nice and was quite close to the beach. We had a tour of the eco houses in the community and also a workshop about inter-species communication. It was a good week and overall I think I enjoyed the work the most.

The iridescent beetles revel in doggy dung; foxgloves, like the coniferous trees, rise towards the sky; and a poet's words flank the forest floor beneath the humbling heights of the magnificent trees of life, engraved upon tiles as a thank you and goodbye.

On 3rd June, 87 P5 pupils from Davidson's Mains Primary School went to Corstorphine Hill to remove Himalayan Balsalm. It is a fast growing invasive species which harms the natural eco-system.
