This was the last night of the Discovery award and the clay art project . The discovery group found out that the species of tree they wanted to grow was difficult to find the seeds in the area to grow them so instead decided to plant some colourful flowers and plants and get the Explorer group involved and donate their planters to the Explorers groups garden project. The Discovery group over the last few months have learnt loads from the project from the values of clay , using it in a fun way to get outdoors and discover whats on their doorstep, use it to give back to nature planting little flowers in what they made to attract insects, so in their own small way they have improved a small area and got out into a local forest to have fun and they have all agreed they defo Discovered , explored & conserved in their own small way with the clay art project and are pretty sure John Muir would have loved the work they have done and they are already talking about the explorer award next term . Overall the Discover Award was a huge success and every Scout gained so much from it no matter how little it was.

The Explorer group continue to make small strides in the scout garden keeping the garden nice and tidy for the whole group to enjoy , filling all the feeders for the Birds to keep attracting them in (the pond also doing this) , using our compost heap, watering the plant & wild flower beds , and keeping adding more mini projects to our garden such as the Bug & Butterfly hotels and new free standing feeding station . This week coming we hope to continue this trend by adding a small wood pile as another attraction to wildlife so at this stage so far so good and we can now see just by the little parts we have done how the garden has improved for wildlife and ourselves

Our Discovery group continue with their clay art making planters covered in the clay art . These Planters will then hopefully be used to plant some native species that we have observed in the forest from when they did the outside clay art session in our local forest . These new plants that we grow in these then can hopefully be planted in an appropriate area for them to grow and giving back to that area another small part done by the discovery group in conservation
