Working on the conserve challenge today the group where burying logs to provide shelter for the lesser stag beetle larvae. The larvae feeds of the dead wood until they mature. The group worked with Tom and Emma to dig a hole using spades, rabbiting spade, tampar and shovel holer. They worked hard to make sure it was the right size, when put in half of the log was underground and half above ground level. They tampered it all down to make sure it was secure, another habitat created!

We went on a village exploration and gathered some brambles. Afterwards, we used them to make jams. Despite not finding as many brambles as we had hoped for, we came across some other living creatures, such as frogs and deceased goldfinches. In total, we collected 1200g of brambles and made 4 jars of jam. count 2 hours

We explored two areas alongside the river and the hydroelectric power plant. We gathered some natural specimens and took pictures of our findings. count 1h

We strolled around the school, introduced the John Muir Award, acquainted ourselves, and discussed our plans. count 3h

While we were close to the school, we collected rose hips to dry and use for bird feeders in winter. We also picked up any litter we found. count 1h

"We walked and explored some places while discussing the changes and traditions of Autumn." We went to the woods and talked about hibernation before playing tag games. count 3h
