Biodiversity BINGOSustrans I Bike 23 Apr
At the Easter inch moss we did biodiversity BINGO. Which is where we look for like a pink flower and then we would find it and cross it off our bingo sheet. It was fun with some challenges. We were racing to find everything. Some were easy some were difficult. It was really competitive and some people could find what others couldn’t. The winning team were the people who found the creatures or plants five in a row. The prize was a water bottle.
John Muir day 1Sustrans I Bike 23 Apr
Today we have learned lots about John Muir. He was famous for loving nature and all the other stuff hes done. Such as walk 1000 miles from Indianapolis to the Gulf of Mexico. Today we learned how to catch and put bugs and beasties in containers and how to identify different bugs such as spiders, beetles and centipedes. We have also done a lot of litter picking and we found a bike in the burn. This is bad cause the water will make the bike disintegrate and animals could die. There was a lot of glass bottles witch are really bad for animals cause spiders could get trapped inside the bottle
Mini beasts discovery [day 1 of john muir]Sustrans I Bike 23 Apr
Our discovery of bugs started with our groups going to improve the area for animals and insects. 1 person had to litter pick, 1 person had to carry a bag and the others had to collect insects and put them in a jar to get a closer inspection. Charlie made us learn something: do NOT put a millipede a centipede and a spider in 1 jar they will fight, the spider made the millipede and the centipede roll into a ball because they were scared.
ALL THE LITTER WE FOUND
whilst litter picking we found some strange stuff. I found a plastic bag stuck in the ground i had to use my hands, Kanza found a piece of plastic in the ground and Eilidh found a bike in the burn witch is bad for the animals
OurExperienceSustrans I Bike 23 Apr
So our favourite part of John muir so far was biodiversity bingo. To explore thing in more deatil for example you had to find water you would cross it out on your piece of pater and see the water in more deatil. You would have to find 4/5 things in real life up,down, left, right and diagonal. If you were lucky you could have found some Animals about maybe even a pink flower (if you were lucky do remember 😄 )Witch was the first thing we did.
Litter pickingSustrans I Bike 23 Apr
We were litter picking to keep the animals safe and helping to protect the wild life. We used gloves incase anything was sharp. We found things like glass bottles, a bed and a bike.
We were shocked to see the amount of litter we found. We could put bins for litter and signs for where to put big litter like a bed.
Silent SitSustrans I Bike 23 Apr
Silent sit was fun because we got to pick a spot to sit and we had to close our eyes and we had to listen. We sat there for about minute, i thought it was nice but other people thought different. What i heard was an airplane X2, birds, twigs snapping, wind ,cars and someone farting (PS It was Craig) Im only joking XD I dont know who it was OR DO I.....
So over all I enjoyed my time outdoors for John Muir and im looking forward to tomorrow. - Kieran
The silent sitSustrans I Bike 23 Apr
Primary 5/6/7 went on our very first John Muir with I .bike and we did fun things on our John Muir. The one i am writing is about is the silent sit. So what it is, is mostly getting to reflect on the fun things we did so we mostly closed our eyes and just listened to the animals and different noises. The noises that we heard were the bees/ the wind/the trees / the birds/ people moving/leaves /cars/the grass. So that is some of the noises. We did this for 3 minutes and it just helped everyone just remember what we did. That was the silent sit. by Ellie Then after the silent sit we got back on our scorers and we came back to school. Today was fun and i loved it and this was day 1 of John Muir.
