Children learnt about the life of John Muir. Class were visited by local Gaelic outdoor education officer who showed the children a powerpoint presentation covering the life of John Muir, from birth to his adult life, with particular emphasis on his pioneering work on conservation issues, his love of outdoors and his passion for outdoor learning and making it accessible to all

Children planted poppy seeds into bee boxes. Children learnt how poppies were 'hardy' plants and are considered good at attracting bees and are also one of the few plants which can be planted in Autumn for this purpose

Local digger was used to transport topsoil and fill up bee boxes - assisted by Gaelic class

Turning two old filing cabinets into wildflower 'bee boxes!'

Class walked to local woods, along with Ranger. Retrieved camera, which was out for 2 weeks. Returned to class and uploaded footage where children saw pictures of wildlife captured at night in the woods. Night time photos of pine marten, deer and red squirrels were captured and also daytime photos of dogs. Learnt Gaelic terms for all the wildlife and discussed how wildlife, including bees were important for the local forest Eco systems and contributed to the health of the forest environment
