The children were in groups, discussing what they would expect to discover, explore, conserve and share as part of their experience.

We used the John Muir comic book resource as a way for the kids to investigate his life under their own steam. We then asked them to write one thing they thought or knew about him on a post-it note and stick it next to the figure. Each group in the class had 10 seconds to draw a part of John Muir.

This week we collected our mascara wand donations and worked together to clean them and sanitize them. Once we done this we wrote our letter to the animal charity and sent it off with the mascara wands at the post office. We also watched a video of where our mascara wands were going and how they would be used.

Over weeks 7&8 we have worked really hard to conserve our raised bed area further. We spoke with our Home Ec teacher who helped us source wild flowers to plant & will hopefully be planting potatoes soon!

This week we decided to look into ways in which we could recycle. Through our google searches we found that many animal charities were looking for mascara wands- they use these to clean the animals and mimic the feeling of their mothers. Once we had chosen a charity we put out an email to teachers and created posters to help with our appeal.

On Weeks 4 & 5 we revisited Robertson Park. We did another litter pick in the park, we revisited the animals and watched the birds at the pond. We also did more of the mission explore activities and made music out of materials we could find in the park!

Today we watched a video about John Muir and his life- it was really interesting to learn a bit more about him and how brave he was!
