21 September 2019 Other ways to enjoy Dartmoor - I've visited the moors with my children (and other's people children), I've walked and ran so now to horseback. The experience is so different, for a start the perspective - you can see further and wider than on foot! And you have a connection with you partner, in this case Marley, I go where he goes, we feel it together, breathing together, trip on a slippy path together - it's magical and I have a lovely morning ride.

Primary 5 were out exploring our school grounds last week! They conducted an Autumn hunt of the Eco Garden. Looking for specific plants and different signs that Autumn had arrived.

Primary 5 from Newton Primary School visited Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park last week. They had a super day exploring The Lodge at Aberfoyle.

Carbost Primary P.7s spent a wonderful day exploring Loch Coruisk. We got a boat from Elgol and then spent time exploring the loch, which involved navigating across some tricky stepping stones! We also took part in some 'mindfulness in the mountains' and shared our trip with pupils back at school.

Session with Y5 pupils from St Bridget's primary, Parton. We all chose rocks from the beach to discuss our differences. A striking blood red winkle shell then reminded us of the blood shed in war when differences take over our nations. We then progressed to sculptures of poppies on the beach to represent respecting each other's differences and coming together in peace.

The John Muir Group started the day by discussing comfort zones and the benefits of pushing one's self out of their normal comfort zone. They then added their leaf drawings from last week to their John Muir display board, before heading outside in the rain to explore the local area. The group navigated their way along the paths and trails around the edge of Bellshill, using a compass and map. Each pupil took a turn at leading the group during the day walk, ensuring the group stayed together and followed the paths. The pupils collected a range of twigs and branches from the wooded area next to the school and turned them into natural photo-frames. The group then spent the afternoon painting nature-themed suncatchers, including flower designs and woodland creature designs.
