Mussel carpet on the lower shore
-
13 September 19
Masses, maybe millions of tiny mussels, carpeting the rock of the lower shore, 1 to 2mm in size, feels like velvet, fingers drawing across and against the pile.
Amazing, sharing my excitement with the kids I am with, running and rock hopping to reach the site at low tide on a lovely dry and clear evening after our barbecue.
We get down on our hands and knees to feel and savour the mussel carpet pile.
18/10/19 update
Definitely millions of tiny mussels which are growing in size, the larger ones are now 5-6mm.
