Garden Project Finished
-
This is the John Muir Inspired garden project finished. The explorer group with some research and visits to other wild places found out that by making a few changes can have a HUGE impact anywhere. Our scout garden was just a plain green that we used for camping in so our explorer group changed all that by adding simple areas to the garden such as the wildflower patches which is starting to bloom, Handmade flower planters, Butterfly and insect hotels, Compost Heap, Log pile, Bird feeders and Bird table, Small Pond, and a couple of new bushes, These small changes are already working as the pond is now home to lots of larvae and insects , also attracts birds and animals into drink and bathe, wildflowers starting and planters starting to add colour and bring in insects which in turn brings in other animals that preys on them , woodpile, compost heap and insect hotels do the same , the feeders bring in the birds and as you can see the grass only gets cut every couple of weeks so it can grow long to let the buttercups and daisys bloom for the insects. The explorer group can be very happy with the hard work they have done to transform our garden into a little space more attractive to wildlife and to ourselves John Muir would be very proud indeed
