Surveying in Hutchinson’s Bank - Croydon
-
Hutchinson’s Bank is the largest and most diverse chalk grassland in the UK and can have up to 30 species within a small area. We used a transactional line that was tied to a nearby tree to help us keep to a straight line, and placed tiles on the ground and counted how many species of plants were inside the square. This helps us understand how the vegetation and wildlife in hutchinson’s bank is coping each year.
