Rebuilding Meall a'Bhuachaille path day 1
-
"Climb the mountains and get their good tidings" - John Muir was definitely right! Our volunteers will be spending 3 days with this view and it certainly gave good tidings today, even in the bitter wind. 23rd May was the first day rebuilding a section of the Meall a'Bhuachaille in the Glenmore Forest, Cairngorms National Park. Before we started there were 2 water bars that had been left high and dry by people avoiding them, leaving water running down the path. The plan is to dismantle and reposition them back on the path so that they catch the water and take it away. It was hard work, but with the magnificent views across the Cairngorm plateau, it didn't feel too bad. There were lots of walkers out enjoying the weather and it was lovely to talk to them about how paths are built and how they conserve upland habitats. Nice to hear some praise as well with one person telling volunteers they deserve a sainthood!
