Overhanging branches of this crack willow were cut away so it would not encroach on the pavement and road, causing hazards to pedestrians and cars. One of the symptoms of nature reserves in urban locations is that certain borders sometimes have to be maintained. The cut branches were placed back along the side of the reserve, hopefully to continue to be used by the wildlife.
